Introdution
Seoul International Book Fair: Korea as a Guest of Honor at Overseas Book Fairs
The Seoul International Book Fair hosted by the Korean Publishers Association operates a special program through which it participates in overseas book fairs as a guest of honor. The Korean pavilion at overseas book fairs set up under the title “guest of honor” not only promotes publishing and copyright-related exchanges, but also demonstrates Korea’s overall economic, political, diplomatic, and cultural capacities. Books as vessels of content, publishers who make the books, writers who create the content, artists, scholars, and cultural and diplomatic institutions come together through the program to introduce Korean literature, culture, and arts to the world. And in the process, Korea and the host nation of the book fair can exchange ideas and sentiments along with physical published materials. Hence, Korean culture is striding into the world, hand in hand with the Seoul International Book Fair’s guest of honor program.
